I never learned how to draw a scarecrow. To me, it just occurred naturally. But that does not mean that I did not have to practice. In fact, I practiced a lot before I could eventually be satisfied with the overall design. And I think if anyone is looking to learn how to draw scarecrows, they will feel comfortable with the procedure I follow to draw them.
I start from the top and make my way down. I keep the design and details simple with minor depth. For coloring, I use dark colors with a few shades of lighter ones.
Draw a pumpkin.
The hat is sort of like a clown hat and pointy at the top.
Draw the eyes and mouth on the head.
It is basically a simple shirt.
The hands are drawn small.
It is a long stick through the middle of the scarecrow.
It is two simple curves made to resemble a stone.
The hay is drawn around the shirt.
Keep going. You are almost there.
Use a dark pencil to do the finishing touches.
The scarecrow drawing is ready. Now you just have to color.
