If you want to draw a poppy but do not know where to start, you are at the right place. I too have struggled in the past with my poppies. However, I have improved a lot in recent times. That is because I managed to practice and develop my own approach to drawing the poppy flowers. Start with the petals. Then add the stalk and leaves. Finally, color it and you are done.

Start from the top

Draw the petals first.

Keep at it

Continue with the petals.

Almost done with the petals.

Now the stalk

Keep it thin.

Darken the outline

Do so with a sharp pencil.

Now a leaf

Put a leaf on the stalk.

You are almost done

Just a couple of more steps.

Final touches

Use a dark pencil for this.

Color it

Now you only have to color it and you will be done.
