How to Draw A Mermaid Tail Step by Step

A mermaid tail has very little going on in it. From a distance, it looks as if it were a regular fish tail. So you do not have to worry too much about it. Just focus on the basics, and you will do fine. And in case you are wondering how to draw it, just stick to my approach and you will find it easy to draw.

Start with the basic structure. Then add the tail fins. Add the scales next, then color it, and you are done.

Do the top

Draw two fin like structures.

Now add a curve

Draw this curve on the left.

Darken the outlines

Use a sharp pencil for this.

Extend the tail

Draw fins on the tail

Start drawing scales

Start from the top. Keep them round.

Keep going with the scales

Proceed downwards.

Final touches

Use a dark pencil for that.

Color it now

The mermaid tail is ready. Now you only have to color.
