How to Draw A Giraffe Step by Step

The giraffe has a very peculiar and distinctive look in the entire animal kingdom. It's long neck and the beautiful dotted patterns on its body is what separates the giraffe from other animals. If you want to draw a giraffe, you must include these features. In case you're not sure how to do so, you can follow the procedure I follow to draw giraffes.

To draw a giraffe, we start with the head and long neck, and eventually make our way to its body. Once we draw the limbs and facial expressions, we then start work on its body patterns. Finally, once the drawing is done, we start to color our giraffe.

Start from the top

Draw the head and neck. Keep the neck long.

Add facial features

Give the giraffe its eyes, nose and mouth.

Add the ears next

Draw a couple of leaf like ears on the giraffe’s head.

Start drawing the body

Draw a hind leg first.

Draw the front leg next

It is the exact same size as the one in the back.

Draw the other legs

These legs are only partially visible to us.

Start working on the patterns

Draw the giraffe’s tail and start drawing the patterns on its body.

Keep going

Keep adding the patterns.

Final touches

Use a sharp pencil to add the last few touches.

Coloring time

Color your giraffe and give it a happy look.
