How to Draw A Duck Step by Step

Ducks are very easy to draw, but if you don’t know how to approach a duck drawing, I think I can help you out. Back when I was in school, I’d use a short set of steps to draw ducks. Although the steps were super basic, they were very effective. I use those steps even to this day, and I think you too can benefit from using them for your duck drawing.

To draw a duck, we start with the head and neck. Then, we draw its egg like body, and add the feet. Afterward, we move towards the beak, and draw its wings as well. Finally, we add a last few touches to complete the drawing.

Start with a curve

The curve is drawn in the shape of an ‘S’.

Draw the body

Using the curve, we draw the body of the duck.

Add the feet

Two small feet are drawn under the belly of the duck.

Next the beak

The beak is shaped like a triangular saucer.

Sharpen the outlines

Use a dark pencil to sharpen the outlines.

Add the eyes

The eye is small and round.

Time for the wings

The wings are oval in shape and pressed against the duck’s body.

Final touches

Almost done. Just one more step.

Color it

Time to color the duck with some light colors.
