How to Draw A Basketball Court Step by Step

I thoroughly enjoy basketball games and watching them while sitting courtside. It is a short game, and fast paced. I in particular like the way basketball courts are designed. They are not that big, but manage to incorporate a lot of action. As a fan of the game, I always enjoyed sketching a few basketball courts every now and then. It was just for fun, and I managed to draw them quite well. However, I did struggle at first, given I did not have much of an idea regarding how these courts were designed. I still managed to learn and draw myself some nice court pictures. And if you want to draw a basket court, but do not know where to start, you too can follow my procedure. It is super easy, and perfect for beginners.

Start with the base and then do the goal posts. Draw the stands behind the court, and then color. Your basketball court will be ready.

Start with the base

For the base, you will draw a parallelogram. It is basically a trapezium when you look at it. The top end is slightly tapering to showcase depth.

Add the marks

The base is done, so now you draw the court lines. You can use a measuring scale to make the marks inch perfect.

Add a boundary

Draw a rectangular boundary around the basketball court. It need not be too high.

Start drawing the goal posts

For now, just add the two pillars for the posts at the two ends of the court.

Add the boards

Add two boards on top of the two pillars.

Start adding the seats

Draw the front row first and keep the seats big.

Add the other seats

Draw the seats from the back now and each row should be a bit elevated than the one before it.

Add the baskets

Draw the baskets on the two score posts.

Add a bit of depth

Use a sharp pencil to do a double outline. This will allow you to add some depth to your drawing and make it bolder.

Coloring time

The drawing is complete. Now you just have to color your basketball court.
