Abstract art is all about expressing your emotions and creativity, without any boundaries or limitations. However, that doesn’t mean that it’s a completely arbitrary process. In fact, in order to make your abstract art appealing and stand out, you ought to learn by observing established pieces of art, and try to make use of their techniques. I personally headed over to YouTube, and sought inspiration from a number of amazing tutorials and demonstrations on how to paint abstract art.
The key to painting abstract art is to be expressive. You can express your emotions in many ways, but the most common way to do so is with the help of colors. Use appropriate colors to showcase your emotions on the canvas. Of course, you should make sure that you’re not going overboard with it.
In this video demonstration, we’ll see the process of painting a simple abstract art piece using oil paints. The artist here uses a brush, as well as a palette knife to apply the paint. They then use a piece of cloth for smudging the paint, and helping it blend. Instead of trying to replicate this artwork, you should study it, and recreate it from your own imagination.

This painting uses a lot of bright colors and shades including blue, red, orange, and yellow. The artist uses a palette knife to spread the colors, and give the artwork a smooth texture. The blends are absolutely beautiful in this painting. Not how the contrast changes with the change in colors. The transition is worth noticing as well. All in all, it’s a fine piece of art that I’d love to have on my living room walls.

This painting is adorned with lots of colors. There’s a certain pattern to the drawing as well. It’s quite an exquisite art piece if you ask me – something you’d often see in art galleries. The coloring is sublime. There’s a rich smoothness in the texture. The overall piece is quite magnificent to look at. Again, this is one of those artworks you’d see hanging in my living room walls. I know I’m using this phrase a lot, but what can I say. I just love abstract art.

Once again, we see an artist make magic happen on the canvas with acrylic paints, and a palette knife. The shading and lighting effects in this painting is marvelous. There’s a richness in the texture, which is also quite smooth. This is a painting you should try to replicate if you’re an experienced artist. It’ll help you understand how the process of layering works when you’re using a palette knife.

This funky abstract art piece can catch anyone’s attention. This is partly due to its vivid color play, and partly because of its funky, and pop vibe. The style appears to be something from a pop artist’s album art. It’s astonishing how something done with acrylics can appear so smooth, and so perfect. Painting something like this will take a bit of time, and a lot of patience. I recommend you give this one a try only if you’re an expert with both acrylics, and abstract painting.

Moving away from our usual abstract art style, we look at something a bit more concrete, and structured. This painting is a figurative abstract artwork showcasing a man and a woman, who appear to be a couple. The colors really do help create a mood for this painting. The style is simple, yet the execution is brilliant. The process to paint this is fairly simple, and hence, newbies will be able to work on it with a bit of ease.

This tutorial will show you how to paint a simple, yet fascinating rainbow tree. Instead of your everyday greenery, the leaves on this tree are colored in the pattern of a rainbow. It’s a colorful and gorgeous thing to look at. This is usually the type of painting you’d see hanging in living room walls. Not a masterpiece, but a beautiful artwork nevertheless.

From a single rainbow tree, we make the jump to an entire landscape where the trees are multicolored. This abstract landscape painting focuses on the idea of rough color patches. The pattern is symmetrical, but instead of a smooth finish, the artist opts for a much rougher one. To me, that’s what makes this artwork so beautiful. It’s an easy process, and I myself enjoyed painting it.
