Drawing leaves may seem like an easy thing to do, but it can also get difficult at times. Everything depends on how you envision your leaf drawing, and how much depth you want in it. It’s easy to get confused as to how you’d want your drawing to be, which is why I’d suggest you to study a few leaf drawings first, and then work on your own one.
There are two ways to draw leaves. There’s the easy way, where you don’t bother about details or depth, and just get done with it by drawing the outline. Then there’s the intermediate or difficult way, which will require you to work on the drawing’s depth and details, and make it look as realistic as possible.
We start things off with the absolute basics, where we’ll see how to draw leaves in a plain and simple way. This tutorial is ideal for people of all ages, but I feel like it’s more suited towards kids who won’t bother adding depth or details in their drawing. Despite being the simplest drawing of a leaf you’ll ever see, and lacking depth, it still looks quite lifelike.

There are various levels of depth that you can highlight in your drawing. For this sketch in particular, we’ll be looking at the way in which you can add more finesse to your drawing by having minimum depth in it. This minimum depth is achieved with the inclusion of light details and shading. This way, you can enhance the way your drawing looks with minimum effort. Your leaf may not look realistic or highly creative, but it’ll still be quite nice to look at.
