How to Draw A Train Step by Step

I love trains, and I enjoy riding them as well. These machines are as fabulous as public transportation can get. I also like to draw trains when I can, because it is just fun to do so. And if you like, you can take my procedure, make it your own, and draw trains with ease.

To draw a train, you start with the engine. Keep it simple in terms of shape. Do the other cars next, before picking up your colors to complete the drawing.

Start with the engine

Draw it in the shape of a shoe.

Now the cars

Each car is a rectangle of the same size.

Do the tops

Add a flat rectangular top to each car and the engine. Keep them thin.

Draw the windows

They are also rectangular in shape.

Add a design

Do these on the top part of the cars.

Next the wheels

Keep them small and round.

Keep drawing the wheels

Draw them on the engine now.

Show the steam

Draw a bit of steam coming out of the engine.

Add some more details

This time on the engine itself.

Final touches

Add some dark pencil outlines.

Coloring time

All aboard. The train is ready. Now it is time to color.
